What is Coaching?

Coaching is about awareness, intentionality and forward movement.

What is the difference between coaching, mentoring and therapy/counseling?

Coaching should not be confused with mentoring, counseling or therapy. Coaching is client-centered, which means the coaching conversations are about you. Effective coaching helps you look forward discover your own answers, so long as you are willing to learn and grow.

Coaching styles vary greatly and coaching outcomes can be dependent on the coaching relationship. Successful coaching can occur in short, one-off conversations. More changes requiring deeper shifts often takes time to develop the clarity needed to act intentionally and strategically. It is not unusual to engage with a coach from 3 months to over a year to establish a plan and overcome barriers to success.

How do I choose a coach?

The coaching field has grown exponentially over the past few years and hiring a coach can be a confusing endeavor. Consider approaching the process the way you would approach the engagement of any professional and do some investigating by asking friends and family for recommendations, looking at blogs and researching coaches online.
